A Call to Stand Against the Obsessive Hatred of Jews

The Danger Before Us

A danger has arisen on the political Right that many of us never saw coming. Some of those with whom we linked arms in the fight against Social Justice are now committing grievously serious ideological errors, as with the Leftist dogma that engulfed America several years back. A campaign has gained steam that casts both Israel and Jewish people in a strongly negative light, driving vitriolic hatred toward them. This is in contrast to how most Christians and political conservatives have traditionally viewed these people.

This recent phenomenon bears striking similarities to what took place only a handful of years ago with the push for “Social Justice,” driven by Critical Race Theory ideology. With the death of George Floyd, a narrative was quickly crafted based on the template of the white man as oppressor and the black man as the oppressed. A fentanyl overdose in Minneapolis supposedly demonstrated the “systemic” problem of police brutality in America. It was ideology, not truth, that told the story.

Over the last couple of years, a somewhat similar phenomenon has taken a new form on the Right. Now, Israel and “the Jews” have been placed in the oppressor role, and essentially everyone else has been placed in the oppressed role. Whether it’s CRT or this more recent Jewish hatred, both are ruled by an alien ideology foreign to the Bible. Those who function within these ideologies view everything through that ideological lens rather than through the lens of Scripture. This is where we find ourselves.

Internet Decievers

When any dangerous teaching is pushed, there are always wolves who push false information (Matthew 7:15). They always present themselves with good motives, but their bad fruit is revealed to the discerning (Matthew 7:16-17). We often think of wolves as pastors preaching falsities from the pulpit, but they show up in many different ways, including through podcasters and political commentators who identify as Christian. While there is a spectrum of those pushing this destructive ideology, the two notable influencers, at least of late, are Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens. While it is true that others, such as the hosts of the “Stone Choir Podcast” and Nick Fuentes of “America First,” have sizeable followings, they haven’t done as much to make these views mainstream.

Carlson has pushed this ideology in several different ways. One is by hosting dubious individuals on his program, and instead of grilling them for their outlandish views, conducting interviews as if he agrees with them. The most recent was with Nick Fuentes, where Tucker allowed him to espouse his erroneous views with little pushback, even though the number of items Carlson could have vigorously questioned him on was too many to count. Carlson has interviewed Darryl Cooper, a pop-historian, who describes a different story about the Holocaust, minimizing Hitler’s evil and pointing the finger at Churchill, called him “the chief villain” of World War II. To show his approval of Cooper and his views, Carlson stated that he is “the greatest and most honest historian in America.” He has also interviewed several pro-Hamas guests claiming that Israel has run American foreign policy in the Middle East for decades, while saying the Israeli military has participated in ethnic cleansing in the Gaza region.

Carlson recently stated in one of his newsletters that Netanyahu controls the United States military: “Unnamed Washington sources expressed concern over Israel’s ability to fend off Iran’s retaliation, which would inevitably lead to Benjamin Netanyahu ordering the American military to step in and fight on his country’s behalf.” Statements such as these tell us that Carlson is teaching his audience that the Jews truly are “the ones in control.” Furthermore, he has given soft interviews to leaders in the Iranian and Qatari governments, even though they are strongly for the advancement of Islam in the West. Interestingly, his most contentious interview was with pro-Israel Senator Ted Cruz. Carlson has also stated that Hamas is not a terrorist group but a “political organization” and has greatly minimized the evil of Sharia Law.

Most recently, Carlson, in his newsletter, defended New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani’s attitude toward Jews as he wrote, “Is the incoming mayor a fan of Israel? Does he want America to fight its wars? Not particularly. But a Jew hater? That’s a different conversation. We’ve never seen anything to suggest he falls into that ugly camp. Because he doesn’t.” What Carlson says here is remarkable considering that Mamdani takes the most extreme stances against Israel, maintaining that they have no right to their own Jewish state. But then again, Carlson’s views on Israel have become virtually indistinguishable from the far left, so his defense of Mamdani should be no surprise. When the radical Left and the radical Right meet, this is a “horseshoe” on display.

Tucker has also suggested that Israel is involved in the infamous Epstein list. While Tucker has positioned Israel as a great oppressor in the Middle East, he has repeatedly defended Islam, the real danger to the West, this while Islam rapidly takes over Europe and is starting to take over parts of the US. Somehow, Israel is the primary problem.

While Carlson has pushed the Israel/Jew oppressor narrative, Owens has to an even more unhinged degree. She has been aggressive in pushing the lucrative narrative that the Jews are behind essentially every nefarious scheme in our day – Kennedy’s Assassination, behind 9/11, deliberately set up the October 7th attack, and were even behind Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

Sadly, Owens and Carlson and others like them have discovered a massive growth in internet followers because they propagate a worldview encouraging Jewish hatred. This is so because just as “sex sells,” so does Jewish hate. Owens became the number one podcast in the world in November. What is frightening about Owens is that she has used a spiritual medium in the past to receive secret information on things leading to outlandish claims. Her gnostic knowledge has certainly been at work through her commentary on Israel and the Jews.

This mass manipulation by podcasters and social media influencers has caused great division on the political and Christian Right and directed a hatred toward the Jews that not been seen since the Holocaust.

Satan Hates Israel and the Jews

To explain why this has taken place, we need to look at Scripture. The sinful heart of man is “deceitful above all things, and desperately sick” (Jeremiah 17:9). People driven by sinful desires love money, fame, and power, and shun personal responsibility. The more Israel and Jewish people are attacked, the more power they attain as they grow their audiences. They also soothe their conscience, as they can always place blame on someone else for what ails the world and themselves (Genesis 3:12).

But another power is at work behind all of this evil. Ever since Israel’s start, Satan has possessed a special hatred for these people. The Lord told Abraham that through his offspring would come a great nation (Genesis 12:2) and those who dishonor his offspring would be cursed and those who honored would be blessed (Genesis 12:3). Some look at this and appeal to the apostle Paul’s statement that “not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel” (Romans 9:6). In other words, only the believing Jews down through history are the true offspring of Abraham. But the apostle Paul provides context to this statement only two chapters later in the same discourse when he writes that ethnic Israel are “beloved for the sake of their forefathers” (Romans 11:28).

Paul is explaining that in one sense, ethnic Israel is an enemy because their rejection of Christ has caused their temporary hardening and estrangement from God. But at the same time, they are also “beloved” in the present because God is not done with them. Paul explains that the “natural branches” will be “grafted back into the olive tree” in the future when “all Israel will be saved” (Romans 11:26).

Since the post-Reformation period, this has been the almost universal interpretation of Romans 11, transcending different eschatological persuasions, from the likes of John Owen, to Charles Spurgeon, to R.C. Sproul. Indeed, at some level, most agree that God is not done with ethnic Israel. With this understanding, there should be no surprise that Satan has a special hatred for Abraham’s offspring. Historically, this has been seen through Pharaoh holding the Israelites in bondage, to the rage of Antiochus Epiphanes, to Adolph Hitler’s concentration camps, to the mission of Islamic nations to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Satan knows the Bible. He knows God is not done with them. If Satan can annihilate them, then in his mind, God’s future plans will not unfold because their presence is necessary for Christ’s return to take place. The Devil is trying to prevent that day when Israel will look on the Lord “whom they have pierced” (Zechariah 12:10) as Jesus returns to the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4).

When Christians hear all of the hate directed at the nation of Israel and Jewish people, they need to understand this: history tells the story of a persecuted people. Because the Lord loves these people, shown in his future commitment to them (Romans 11:26), of all peoples on earth, Christians should be known as those who show honor and respect to them. Since there is a future salvation for them, a large number of Abraham’s offspring (Zechariah 13:9) will come, becoming brothers and sisters alongside Christians in the age to come.

Legitimate Dialogue on Israel

I anticipate objections. Does this mean Christians must always give full support to the nation-state of Israel? No. Christians have every right to critique the modern nation-state of Israel. It is, in many ways, a secularized, Western country. Many of the evils present in our nation are present there as well, including taxpayer-funded abortion, a vigorous LGBT agenda, and tremendously draconian measures during the COVID-19 period. In recent years, they have also frowned upon Christian evangelism. These are things we ought to oppose. Another big debate is financial support. Is the large amount of funding toward Israel a wise use of American resources when we have numerous problems at home? This can be debated by honest and clear-minded people. One further objection commonly heard is: Can Christians have love for the people of Israel and not the Israeli government? As a democratic country, it was the people of Israel who put Benjamin Netanyahu and the present leadership in power with their vote, unlike the totalitarian Islamic regimes that surround them. Furthermore, this elected government uses its military strength to maintain its existence. One of Iran’s primary reasons for existence is to wipe the nation-state of Israel off the face of the earth. Israel’s military is its survival.

A Time to Stand

Only a handful of years ago, an army of Christians rose up against the invasion of Social Justice into the church that John MacArthur called the greatest threat to the gospel in his lifetime. A similar stand needs to be taken now. Just as Satan authored Critical Race Theory, so he has authored this dangerous ideology of hatred directed against Jewish people. To let this continue to fester will greatly damage the conservative political movement and, more importantly, the Church. To honor the Lord, we must love what God loves and hate what God hates (Romans 12:9). God hates this growing ideology. The American Church must “stand against the schemes of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11).

Politically, the Right must rid itself of this destructive deviation and be about applying God’s law so that our fellow countrymen would be truly blessed. The church should be about “growing in the grace and Knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18) instead of looking to point the finger for the corporate and personal problems currently found in this world. Christians are to be known for their love for people (Matthew 22:39), not driven by hatred against specific groups. Furthermore, for the conservative political movement and churches in America to keep evil away and push forward good, they need to be united in righteousness and not link arms with Satan, taking part in his destructive plans. A clear line needs to be drawn where all Christians agree. Christians, now is the time to stand against this obsessive Jewish hatred – even if it’s coming from the Right.
